This individually designed house is situated close to the Torre di Monte Vignale, a tower of local historical interest. Newly built, it sits in an elevated position in an area of outstanding natural beauty, approached by a track through woodland.
In a position that boasts sunlight and stunning mountain views, it is a house for those who appreciate nature and tranquillity. Architect designed, this four bedroom house has incorporated five levels and as much light as possible and with respect for the surrounding views. Solidly built by a local Italian building company the house has been constructed to offer versatile living space. The beautiful stone tower constructed to give the impression of being original offers both character and charm. The same stone reflected in a pillar set in the front entrance and again on the other side of the house. The oak roof creates warmth and harmony with the surrounding chestnut and oak trees. Local stone has been used to adorn the terrace walls, windowsills and doorsteps.Rustic oak windows and doors have been designed and made by a local artisan incorporating recycled ironwork. The important, main entrance has been carved from walnut and depicts symbols from past ages in Lunigiana. Ancient stone has been sought for the doorstep creating a feeling of presence. Perhaps a little eccentric, the interior offers a very individual approach of warmth and style. Terracotta floor tiles have been used throughout, creating a feeling of space and unity. Hand-built painted doors and architraving give a feeling of splendour complimented with the authentic use of iron latches and hinges all carefully forged. Iron balusrading around the open staircase was inspired by old ironwork. The house is gas centrally heated with the provision for a wood burning stuffa for cooking.
The land surrounding this beautiful house includes several terraces, thus creating interesting levels. It includes trees, some olive and a spectacular array of exquisite wild flowers bearing colour all year round. The fragrant sunny Genestre adorns the garden in May. A hand-built circular seat surrounds a young oak ,rustic steps link the terraces, discreetly placed to enable a unity with nature. A woodland walkway links up with the far end of the garden and there is space enough for a kitchen garden and hens, and indeed further scope to satisfy the imagination. It is worth noting that the rooms within the house are extremely versatile and, for example, could provide a studio area for recording ,art or photography, cinema or independent apartment with own terrace facing woodland and with its own entrance. There is indeed, an opportunity to make ones own mark. ‘Settimo Cielo’ was created as a home ,built with enormous love and respect for the surrounding area. The space offers an entrance hall, large kitchen, sitting room and library, four bedrooms with four bathrooms, and two large cantina rooms. It has been created and built individually with both passion and love.
It is indeed a……… haven .
